Career History


Sabrina Röttger-Wirtz is Assistant Professor of EU Law at the Faculty of Law of Maastricht University. Previously she was appointed as Assistant Professor of EU Health Law at the Tilburg Institute for Law, Technology and Society (TILT) at Tilburg University. 

She worked as a Lecturer and Doctoral Researcher at the International and European Law Department of the Faculty of Law of Maastricht University. Her PhD research 'The Interplay of Global Standards and EU Pharmaceutical Regulation' assesses global standard-setting bodies and the consequences of the implementation of global pharmaceutical standards into the EU regulatory framework.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in European Law (LL.B.) and obtained two LL.M.’s (cum laude) in European Law and Globalisation & Law from Maastricht University. After her studies she joined the Legal Service of the European Medicines Agency as Trainee and later as Contract Agent.

Sabrina Röttger-Wirtz is Managing Editor of the European Pharmaceutical Law Review. She also is a Steering Committee Member of the Young Researchers Platform of the Academic Research Network on Agencification of EU Executive Governance (TARN). Moreover, she is a scholar of the Maastricht Centre for European Law (MCEL).
