CERiM’s Research Agenda: Reshaping Europe in a Changing Global Order
CERiM’s research explores how Europe is both shaped by and influencing global developments, whether political, legal, or social. Our researchers examine how global dynamics and internal shifts have transformed Europe over time, assessing Europe's role as a key player on the international stage, and the challenges it faces in a rapidly changing global order. A central focus is the protection and development of core European values and achievements, such as the welfare state, fundamental rights, democratic institutions, and the European integration process itself.
The significance of CERiM’s work lies in its relevance to both academic and societal debates during a time of crises and uncertainty, from security challenges to migration issues and economic instability. CERiM is one of the few EU research centres that tackles these issues through a multidisciplinary lens, combining expertise from law, political science, and history. Our approach blends historical and empirical inquiry, legal analysis, and theoretical development, providing a unique perspective on Europe’s evolving role.
With a team of over 100 researchers, from PhD candidates to renowned professors, CERiM contributes to multiple pressing issues simultaneously. We are committed to producing cutting-edge academic research, while also engaging with the public through events, podcasts, and the Jean Monnet lecture series.
